How to verify a token lock yourself, in three reads

A dashboard can say anything. Three reads on the block explorer tell you who locked, how much, and when it unlocks.

Why check it yourself

Every lock page on Virtuallock is built from on-chain data, but you don't have to take our word for it. Anything we show can be confirmed on the block explorer, with no account and no wallet.

1. Find the lock's creation event

Each lock starts with a LockCreated event from the TokenLock contract:

event LockCreated(
    uint256 indexed lockId,
    address indexed token,
    address indexed owner,
    uint256 amount,
    uint16 burnBps,
    uint64 unlockTime
);

Open the contract on the explorer, go to its events (or logs) tab, and find the entry with the lock ID you were given. It shows the token, the depositor (owner), the amount and the original unlock time.

2. Read the lock as it is today

An unlock date can move later after creation, so the event isn't the whole story. On the contract's "Read contract" tab, call getLock with the lock ID. It returns the current unlock time and whether the lock has been withdrawn.

3. Check what has happened since

Look for LockExtended events with the same lock ID: each one pushed the unlock date later, and none can ever pull it earlier. A LockWithdrawn event means the depositor has taken the tokens back, so the lock no longer holds anything.

What to compare it with

A lock only means something next to the token's total supply. Compare the locked amount with the supply the token contract reports, and check who holds the rest. Our launch-wallet supply method explains how we do that on token pages.
